Rolling Rules
1. IBJJF Rules apply (go to IBJJF.com)
2. Roll with control
3. No leg / foot attacks for white belts under 3rd stripe
4. Use submissions allowed by the lowest grade in the contest. (If a blue and white roll then it’s white belt rules)
5. Always apply submissions with control - treat your opponent as you wish to be treated.
6. Dangerous rolling will receive a warning - if you deliberately injure someone you may be asked to leave the gym.
7. Self Defence begins when you walk through the door. Protect yourself and be wary when drilling and especially when rolling.
8. Focus on learning NOT winning. If you want to fight aggressively enter competitions - in the gym show respect and care for your training partner.
9. No one’s keeping score in training.
10. Report any incident that results in injury to the head coach immediately.
All new adults will be administered a red stripe on their belt first lesson. As they demonstrate control and maturity of movement then the stripe will be removed.
Red Stripe: no submissions, no free training, positional sparring only, no grading, focus on control, staying calm, smoother movements, more self awareness.
Stay safe / have fun / focus on learning not winning / look after your partners - always show respect and control.
